As the competition gets tougher, one finalist says his or her goodbye every week, and for this week, it is already goodbye for Hollie Cavanaugh. In the most recent episode of American Idol, the demure 18-year old singer from Mckinney, Texas did not give the judges a good feeling during his entire performance.
The singer seems to be fizzled last Wednesday with her rendition of Irene Cara’s “Flashdance” during the evening of 1980s tunes themed episode of the said Fox Singing competition. Soon after she performed on stage, Idol judge J.Lo warned Cavanaugh to stop listening to everyone and “let it go” when she was performing on stage. Until now, the judges noticed that Cavanaugh seemed to be nervous every time she performs on stage.
Steven Tyler, however, was blunter during that time. He said, “Your pitch was all over the place, I’m sorry to tell you.”
Aside from Cavanugh, Elise Testone also did not impress the judges as Tyler said that he thinks his choice of singing “Who Lotta Love” isn’t the “right song choice” after all. In the meantime, Randy Jackson informed her that she was “much better than this.” “It was just out of tune everywhere for me,” he said.
As the competition gets near to the final round, the contestants seem to be deteriorating in terms of their song choices and performances instead of improving. Find out what happens in the next episodes of American Idol Season 11 and let us see if improvements are going to happen.
