They have just closed the deal, verbally and Pacquiao vs. Cotto
is on! That is right, Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao, the reigning pound for pound king of the world today will have a fight on November against Puerto Rico's pride, Miguel Cotto. Bob Arum, the Top Rank promoter, said this to ESPN.com
. Pacquiao (49-3-2, 37 KOs) and Cotto (34-1, 27 KOs) agreed to fight on 145 maximum weight but Arum did not reveal the percentage of shares that they've agreed to be given to both camps.
This future match between the two fighters were almost not materialized because they didn't agreed with the weight limit. Because of this, "Sugar" Shane Mosley challenged Pacquiao
to any weight limit the latter desired. However, it seems that Pacman's camp really wants to take a fight against the Puerto Rico's 147 pounds title holder and now they've just preparing all the paper works to make everything in place for the said fight.
The said Pacquiao-Cotto match will be held at MGM Grand in Las Vegas on November 14, 2009. Bob Arum said the tentative promotional tour schedule would be September 9 in Los Angeles, September 10 in New York and September 12 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
